Собака по имени Саша – our newest guests
Her name is Cherokee Princess Sapphire, but we call her Sasha. It suits her. Her shelter papers had her listed as Sapphire, but she’s no good on the pole, if you know what I mean. I chose Sasha because it is a soft name, feminine and strong. A good Slavic name for a beautiful pure bred Siberian Husky. And she is beautiful. Her eyes are the light blue of frozen glacier water. Why the long name above? This girl has AKC papers. How in the hell does a gorgeous, 3-year-old American Kennel Club girl end up in a shelter? Was there some awful tragedy in the family? Nope. This is one of the stories that make me angry. I will try to balance my angry frustration with lovely puppy photos, and accept that we never really know why people do the sucky things that they do.
The lovely woman who volunteered to drive Sasha, and several other dogs, south to various rescue organizations told me Sasha’s story as she rolled her eyes in disgust. Sasha was owned by the daughter of the shelter manager where she was turned in, un-spayed, with the excuse that daughter had been evicted and moved to a place that doesn’t accept pets. This dog would have cost anywhere from $1300 on up from a breeder, which leaves lots of questions. Excuse my genera

WP consultant: Why can’t I hire you?
You are a WP consultant. I am a customer looking for one. I post a request, and you reply. We exchange a couple of emails and setup a Skype call. We discuss project goal, you give some estimates, I try to negotiate the price. Finally, seems everything is set: I open a PayPal to make a first payment, and write an email with hosting credentials. You confirm you received everything and work may start… Looks good, isn’t it? But then why – please tell me why – this idyll is broken after several weeks (or even days) of work? I doubt you understood the goal, you have enough time for my project or even competencies to finish it. In your turn, you think I can’t formulate tasks, not willing to pay and don’t understand very simple technical things. As a result, we do a very small part of the job, and decide to stop the project. Both are happy this nightmare ended, and we leave for good, hoping next time we are lucky to find an awesome partner for better cooperation.
Does it look familiar for you? If yes, please join me to learn from my experience being in both shoes. I used to be a WP consultant, and failed a couple of important projects because of… OK, you will know lessons I learned. I also act as a technology broker – an IT professional who facilitates the delivery of projects by finding and managing a best possible contractor for the current need of its customer. In this role I also failed to deliver on time and within a budget, because of misunderstandings with hired WP consultants. We will discuss one business case from my practice. In the end, we will discuss your approach and tips you can share with others, how to build trustworthy relationships with your clients during whole project lifecycle.

Establish yourself as the leader. To gain a dog's respect and to make it feel happy and secure, establish yourself as the leader. This helps your dog understand the pecking order of your home. If you have children, he should be below them in the house hierarchy. The owner or primary caretaker of the dog should be at the top, and your dog should respect this leader. This will ensure a happy home where both you and your dog are safe.
Correct! Offering your dog consistent positive reinforcement is a great way to let him know what behaviors are acceptable. By praising him every time he does something good, he will feel motivated to continue doing the things that you like. Read on for another quiz question.
Not exactly. Although it might be tempting to let your dog get up on the couch with you if he's been really good, this will send him the message that it is always okay to get up on the couch with you. If you don’t want him on the couch, then do not let him get on the couch under any circumstance. Can you find a better option?
This isn’t quite right. It is important to use one word for the command you are trying to teach. Don’t alternate between multiple words. For example, don’t alternate between “sit” and “down” when you want your dog to sit. Just say “sit.” Can you find a better option?
Speak in your dog's language. Dogs don't communicate the way humans do. They don't understand words, beyond a simple command. They understand body language. Learn how to read your dog's body language. More important, pay special attention to your body language. This is especially important when you are training your dog. Your body will speak louder than your words.
Use positive reinforcement. When training your dog, use positive reinforcement instead of punishment. Dogs learn much better this way. Always rew

Samoyed (dog)
Russian: Самоедская собака or Самоед ) is a breed of large herding dog, from the spitz group, with a thick, white, double-layer coat. It takes its name from the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia. These nomadic reindeer herders bred the fluffy white dogs to help with the herding, and to pull sleds when they moved. An alternate name for the breed, especially in Europe, is Bjelkier.

Appearance [ edit ]
The Samoyed tail is one of the breed's distinguishing features. Like the Alaskan Malamute, the tail is carried curled over the back; however, unlike the Malamute, the Samoyed tail is held actually touching the back. It should not be a tight curl or held flag-like; it should be carried lying over the back and to one side. In cold weather, Samoyeds may sleep with their tails over their noses to provide additional warmth. Almost all Samoyeds will allow their tails to fall when they are relaxed and at ease, as when being stroked or while eating, but will return their tails to a curl when more alert.
Среди многочисленных надписей, пестревших на стенах помпейских домов, появлялись иногда и такие: «30 пар гладиаторов Гнея Аллия Нигидия Майя с заместителями будут биться в Помпеях с 8-го по 6-й день до декабрьских календ;
Samoyeds have a dense, double layer coat. The topcoat contains long, coarse, and straight guard hairs, which appear white but have a hint of silver coloring. This top layer keeps the undercoat relatively clean and free of debris. The under layer, or undercoat, consists of a dense, soft, and short fur that keeps the dog warm. The undercoat typically sheds heavily once or twice a year, and this seasonal process is sometimes referred to as "blowing coat". This does not mean the Samoyed will shed only during that time however; fine hairs (versus the dense clumps shed during seasonal shedding) will be shed all year round, and have a tendency to stick to cloth and float in the air. The standard Samoyed may come in a mixture of biscuit and white coloring, although pure white and all biscuit dogs are common. Males typi

male dog
Usually, though "собака" is a word of the feminine gender, it is used for both male and female dogs in Russian. You may say "пёс" as has already been suggested or "кобель". Concerning the first one, it is usually applied to male dogs, but sometimes one can refer to a female one as "пёс". When this word is used, a speaker often emphasizes that their dog is very loyal to them (their dog is their best friend) or they have got it for hunting animals (ducks, foxes, etc.) or some other special purpose. This is only my perception of this term, probably, some of my natives-colleagues may disagree about this point. To tell the truth, I do not see anything insulting in this term unless it is used as an abuse. In fact, all the three words may be intended to address someone in a humiliating way ("собака", "пёс", "кобель") or directly insult them during a quarrel.
The word "кобель" is used only for male dogs. However, this word is more scientific than conversational. Very often we call a man who has affairs with many women simultaneously a "кобель" to draw attention to his excessive sexual activity and being unable to be faithful and devoted to one woman only.
My understanding is that in English you refer to an animal as 'it' unless it's an animal you really care about (or you talk to somebody who really cares about the animal, normally, the owner) -- in the latter case you refer to the animal as 'he' or 'she'. Roughly. Right?
For you specific example, if I don't feel like referring to the dog as 'it', but the grammatical agreement comes into play, I feel it's somewhat odd to answer 'Он на кухне.' So I'd just avoid using the pronoun and say 'На кухне.' or use the name of the dog, say: 'Дружок на кухне'.
